PRLog (Press Release) - May 19, 2009 -
Open source innovator and Snort® creator, Sourcefire, Inc.  (Nasdaq:FIRE), a leader in Cyber  Security, today announced that Jeff Sherwood of H&R Block will discuss his use of the Sourcefire 3D® System during a SANS WhatWorks webcast on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 1:00pm EDT. During the webcast, Sherwood will provide insights into how H&R Block is leveraging Sourcefire’s leading intrusion prevention system (http://www.sourcefire.com/solutions/etm/ips) on the Crossbeam platform to protect sensitive customer data.

H&R Block employs approximately 90,000 temporary tax professionals annually and because of this dynamic workforce, the company needed to enhance its data leakage and protection capabilities to help prevent information from being lost or stolen. Leveraging Crossbeam’s X80 chassis, Sourcefire® seamlessly integrates into H&R Block’s existing security infrastructure and adds another layer of network protection for the company’s 13,000 offices and data centers across the country.

With the increased visibility provided by Sourcefire RNA® (Real-time Network Awareness), H&R Block is also able to improve its IPS protection and improve corporate “de-integration” efforts by identifying networked assets that are no longer used by the company and blocking them from the corporate network.
