(Port Angeles – 5/18/2009) – Multi Axis Games announces that Tweet Lord, the first ever persistent online game played through Twitter, is now live. Although it is still being “beta” tested, Tweet Lord is free and open to the public (www.tweetlord.com).

“We are excited to launch our free game on Twitter, which is the hottest new social networking website,” said Margaret Staples, C.O.O. of Multi Axis Games. “With Tweet Lord, the already playful Twitter community can literally play together, level up, collect and trade items in their own Twitter Role Playing Game.”

Twitter has become a social networking phenomenon that has reached beyond the internet community to embrace traditional media outlets as well. Twitter members post updates consisting of a maximum of 140 characters.  Twitter members can read updates by either becoming followers of other members or browsing the Twitter pages.

Playing Tweet Lord is simple. Twitter users simply include a hash (#) followed by an action and “@TLGame” somewhere in their Twitter update and they are playing.  Actions in the game include a wide variety of options such as #hug, #wave, #jump, #poke, #dance, and #search.  Players can direct their actions towards others by including an @ followed by another Twitter user’s name.  Since the game is so simple to play, it allows players to demonstrate their creativity by forming fun and interesting game messages or simply including game actions into normal updates.

“Tweet Lord gives Twitter use another dimension,” Staples noted.  “It allows Twitter members to be more creative and fun with their updates and form tighter connections
with their own followers and those they follow. Many of the first players are enjoying discovering how the game works through experimentation.  Currently, the player with the most experience, MacGuffen, spent most of the morning sending Twitter messages such as: hi @vultureking I am doing an experiment, if i #shattershell you, the most evil person (ingame only i hope) i get good points? @TLGame.”

The game site (www.tweetlord.com) displays the top 10 players in various categories, contains helpful information for players, and offers a search function for finding player character sheets.  These character sheets show what a player has been doing, what other players have been doing with them, any items they have found, any game messages they’ve sent or received and any other player information.
