June 5, 2009 - PRLog -- When Wishes Become Features

AUGI (Autodesk User Group International) gathers member wishes to make the products that they use everyday that much stronger.

From the beginning, Autodesk played it smart, knowing that in order to grow and prosper, its products had to be updated and enhanced regularly. Moreover, Autodesk executives knew that some of these product improvement ideas would come from outside the company's headquarters.

Tapping into the rich resource that is its own customer base, Autodesk encouraged users to provide feedback on where the products were hitting, where they were missing, and specifically how they could be improved. The idea made perfect sense. Who better to offer product improvement suggestions than the people on the front lines, so to speak - the professionals who work with Autodesk's software every day?

As one of the first organized groups of Autodesk product users, AUGI was in a prime position to formalize the way users relayed their product-improvement suggestions to Autodesk. Thus began the AUGI Wish List program.

Brenda Richardson, AUGI Wish List Manager, points out "While not every wish made by AUGI members turns into an actual product feature, many of them do".

Four Autodesk products have a structured wish list. AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit Architecture have all, with the assistance of Autodesk, adopted a submission-based wish list.

Mark W. Kiker, AUGI president is interacting with Autodesk to make the system even better.  "Our members want their voices heard.  The Wish Lists make that happen.  We are in discussions with Autodesk to make this process even better."

Where to find the Wish Lists Results

Under the Product Community channels at http://www.AUGI.com, you will find Wish List pages for each of the four products that use this submission-based system. You will find valuable information, including directions on submitting a wish, links to previous wish lists forums, and results from past ballots.
