The Observer lists Naturepaint as a ‘Big Idea’ for 2009
Nature Paint Limited, Hayle Cornwall, May 2009.
A remarkable new range of decorating paints is already making a big splash amongst eco-aware consumers. And it has now reached the shores of The Observer 2009 ‘Big Idea’ Ethical Awards.
Made in Cornwall from natural and sustainable materials, Naturepaint®
Sold in powder form, all users have to do is mix in water – even the special paper-based packaging is 99.9 per cent recyclable and any leftovers will simply biodegrade naturally with garden waste.
This environmental innovation in Home Decorating has been described as 2009’s energy saving light bulb. Compared with liquid paints, the low weight and volume of Naturepaint reduces mailing, storage and transportation costs by over 50% and eliminates landfill waste from metal and plastic paint pots.
The Observer ‘Big Idea’ Category rewards ethical innovation, particularly focusing on consumer products or behaviour-changing ideas. The judging panel is made up of the UK's top environmental and sustainability experts and some extremely well-known faces from Film, TV and Business worlds.
In 2008, working closely with the Eden Project in Cornwall, Naturepaint developed a special palette of paints, called ‘Colours of Eden’, with colours including Aloe Green and Biome Blue. These are now on sale both at Eden’s iconic visitor attraction and from Eden’s online shop.
In 2007, Naturepaint was also shortlisted for another national prize, the Shell Springboard Award. Sponsored by the Shell Oil Company, Springboard awards are for products that make significant contributions to reducing the impact of climate change.
As well as the range of 100 stunning colours in pack sizes from as little as £3.80, customers can also buy the Naturepaint®
Nature Paint Limited products are sold direct to consumers via a growing number of retail outlets as well as the company’s website, www.naturepaint.com and a sales hotline, 0845 3670140.
