PRLog (Press Release) - May 15, 2009 -
Eco friendliness has taken the marketplace by storm lately. From greener cars to Samsung’s “Eco-Phones,” manufacturers are realizing that this is a trend that is here to stay. This is great news for forward thinking business owners. Not only does going green mean you can give yourself a pat on the back, it also means significant help from the government and a loyal consumer base.

Matthew Lesko (the question mark suit guy) hit the airwaves in the 1990s with the promise of “free money” from the government. While his approach is aggressive and hyperbolic, he is correct in the fact that the government does offer a large number of grants and subsidies for projects that they deem useful. The largest area of growth of subsidies and tax breaks is within the field of green energy.  From solar rebates in California that can pay for up to 70% of the project to cash grants on hybrid cars the funding is there. Further, the Economic Recovery Plan, signed into law by Congress in 2009, fast tracked rebates for home and business owners who build wind and solar energy systems to reduce their fossil fuel consumption. The time to go green is now, and the government is willing to help. All who are considering undertaking a green project are urged to contact their state government right away to see what options are available.

Even with the energy savings offered, products still must be effectively marketed. Branding is vital, we all know that. Consumers are simply more likely to purchase items that carry a message they believe in. From the best eco bags to “Built Ford Tough,” people desire products that they identify with. The eco friendly sector is no different. Trendwatching.com has identified some of these great new green trends. The two terms that really stand out are “eco-iconic” and “eco-vertising.” The eco-iconic concept is described as eco-friendly goods and services sporting bold, iconic markers and design, that help their eco-conscious owners show off their eco-credentials to their peers.'' So go ahead and make that recycled logo bigger on your next product. Buyers want to be eco friendly, and most importantly for marketers, they want to show it off.

The second concept Trendwatch identifies is eco-vertising. This, at its essence, means that a business’s eco friendly attitude should carry over into their next marketing campaign. A bad idea would be a “Go Green” message on Styrofoam cups. Done properly, the results are much more pleasing. Take for instance, a company with a good client base, but lacking a strong eco friendly message. For a small spend they could print up a run of custom printed eco bags to pass out. The bags are colorful, come in a wide variety of styles, and display the eco friendly message on a honest medium.

In researching eco trends, I stumbled across Factory Direct Promos, who seem to be the leader in direct from manufacturer eco friendly products. One look at their website, www.factorydirectpromos.com, shows the wide range of eco-vertising possibilities that are out there. From reusable eco bags to corn pens or seeded business cards, it is clear that creativity doesn’t have to suffer when making the jump to eco friendly products.

In short, consumers want eco friendly products that they can show off, the government is willing to meet you halfway on your next eco spend, and the product offerings from eco suppliers are strong. The only thing missing is you. Get on board the eco friendly train today or get left behind.
