PRLog (Press Release) - May 14, 2009 -
Vintage Car Club of Thailand and Royal Paragon Hall gave a Press Conference on their preparedness to host The 33rd Vintage Car Concours (entitled “THE GLOSSY HERITAGE AWARDS 2009”) during 21–24 May, 2009 at Royal Paragon Hall on the 5th level of Siam Paragon Center.

Mr. Kwanchai Paphatphong, President of Vintage Car Club of Thailand, said, “The Vintage Car Concours this year is based on the concept of passing on the responsibility of preserving these precious legacies to the younger generation as encapsulated by the event’s slogan “THE PAST IN THE EYES OF THE FUTURE”.

“The event this year will assemble over 200 rare vintage cars, classic cars and vintage motorbikes with a total value of about 360 million Baht. The highlight will be a Toyota 2000GT convertible, a 1967 vintage of the same model as James Bond car in “You only live twice”. Only 3 samples of this model are left in Asia. Another car of interest is Khun Chalong Pakdeevijit’s 1912 Peugeot and also a Wolseley-Siddeley Tourer that is nearly 100 years old.”

“Apart from a chance to lay their hands on rare vintage cars, visitors will find a retro market, old rare collectibles, seminars on vintage cars, services of Thailand Post Co., Ltd. in taking photographs of vintage cars and printing the pictures on postage stamps, issuance of new driving licenses by the Department of Land Transport, etc.

Most special for this year’s event is THE GLOSSY HERITAGE VINTAGE CONCERT 2009 by The Youngsters, The Betters, Phusming Nosavan, plus guest artist Manoj Pudtan who will join in to take the visitors on a trip down memory lane in the evening of Sunday 24, May 2009. Tickets can be purchased from every branch of ThaiTicketMajor.

In addition there will also be THE GLOSSY HERITAGE VINTAGE DANCE 2009 in the evening of Saturday 23, May 2009.

Mr. Arun Theng, General Manager of The Royal Paragon Enterprise Ltd., General Manager of the Royal Paragon Hall Exhibition and Convention Center, said, “During the past 3 years, apart from doing the business of providing venue for hosting events, Royal Paragon Hall has been successful also as co-organizer of many events including the 32nd Vintage Car Concours. So this will be the second time that we and Vintage Car Club of Thailand are co-organizers. We are confident that our expertise in managing convention and exhibition center combined with our experience as co-organizer of events can make this Vintage Car Concours more magnificent and colourful than last year.”

“About the event this year, as Royal Paragon Hall supports the concept of antique preservation for the younger generations to appreciate, we have expanded the space for activities that will add colours to the event and attract more young people, such as a retro market displaying fashions, articles, antiques, rare foodstuffs and things that are hard to find, en exhibition that relates a story of old-time market via photos taken by leading artists of Thailand plus a special talk by Khun Jiranan Pitpreecha and an expert in collectibles with over 10 years’ experience, and a Suntarapon Band concert by the Public Relations Department and AF artists—a mixture of old and new on the same stage.”

Visit “THE GLOSSY HERITAGE AWARDS 2009” from May 21 – 24, 2009 at Royal Paragon Hall on the 5th level of Siam Paragon Center.
