Vista Antigua, a private community by Coates/Dolan in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico is hosting the first annual Mexico Invitational El Grande Cookoff, Saturday, July 4, 2009.
The Mexico Invitational El Grande Cookoff, the first of its kind in Mexico, pitting the best BBQ teams in Mexico in a head-to-head competition for best brisket, sausage, ribs, "open" category, beans and Texas-style chili. Local restaurants and BBQ aficianados alike will be competing in the event. The program for the day includes music, children’s activities and Team Ranch Sorting, an exciting timed competition on horseback. Proceeds from the event benefit the thousands of Mexican children and families served by the local charities Feed the Hungry and Patronato Pro Niños. Vista Antigua is the second private community development in San Miguel de Allende by local developers, Coates/Dolan. The project started two years ago with the initial master plan created by EDSA, a world-renowned land planning company. The community features 203 homesites with panoramic views of the town center and Picacho Mountains. More than 50% of the community has been sold and new home constrution is underway.

Patronato Pro Niños is dedicated to providing free or low-cost medical and dental services to children of low-income families. Last year Patronato Pro Niños provided care to children from 152 villages and 43 barrios and colonias in and around San Miguel. This included 3,683 medical consultations, 2.967 medications, 1,201 rehabilitation and long-term therapies, 592 medical tests and 51 surgeries.
