IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)] has announced the opening of its newest hotel property in California. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Napa Valley is located on State Route 29 in American Canyon, across from the city’s Main Street Park.
The hotel’s American Canyon location makes it an ideal base for exploring one of the world’s great wine regions. The city of American Canyon bills itself as “the Gateway to the Napa Valley.” Over 300 wineries are located within thirty miles, including the famous Cakebread Cellars, V. Sattui and Stags Leap Wineries. The hotel is ten miles from world-famous shopping and dining downtown Napa.
The hotel is also close to major family and sports attractions. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is five miles away. Infineon Raceway, which hosts major NASCAR and Sport Bike events, is sixteen miles away.
Co-owner Stan Boyd said the location is a prime reason he and his partners chose American Canyon. “It’
A hotel industry veteran, Boyd opened the hotel with partners Tom LaTour, the retired CEO of Kimpton Hotels, and Andy Kirmse, a former InterContinental Hotels executive.
Boyd says his property is the newest hotel in the Napa Valley. “And given the projects currently in the pipeline,” he says, “We will hold that title for some time.”
Boyd says the hotel’s rates will range between $119 and $279 a night, depending on room type and season.
“That’s significantly less than you would pay for many hotels in Napa or Yountville,”
He says value-conscious travelers will also appreciate hotel’s free wireless Internet access, and its fully-stocked breakfast bar.
