Local Barber Bob Dascola announces that his family barbershop has celebrated the 70th year in business in downtown Ann Arbor Michigan this past April, 2009.
The store at 615 E. Liberty was originally owned by his late father, Dominic Dascola, who graduated from the University of Michigan in 1936 and finished a master's degree in 1937 while working as a barber at the Michigan Union.
Dominic Dascola bought a barbershop on East Liberty Street in 1939 and changed the name to Dascola Barbers. Along with his brothers, Ernest and Patsy the three of them worked at the shop.
Eventually, Bob (who went to Greens barber college in Detroit in the 60's) took over his father's barbershop and later moved it to a cozy second-floor space at 304 ½ South State Street, above Ben & Jerry's ice cream store on the Central Campus of the University of Michigan. Bob and his late father are both Alumni of the University of Michigan. Haircuts by both appointment and walk-in. Bob feels that people’s time is very valuable and shouldn’t have to sit around waiting to get a haircut, so call 734 668-9329 for an appointment.
