The State of California requires Phlebotomists to complete coursework plus an externship before taking the national certification examination in order to be allowed to draw blood in California. Certified Phlebotomists are still in high demand in the State of California and Regan Career Institute’s Phlebotomy program is one of the most active Phlebotomist technician training programs in California.
Summertime is one of the best times to gain your Phlebotomy Certification as area hospitals and other healthcare providers reevaluate their Venipuncture needs during the Fall and Winter months, historically periods of higher healthcare requirements. Because of California’s recent implementation of requirements for phlebotomy Certification, the state faces a continual shortfall in the number of actively certified Phlebotomy Technicians in the State. Phlebotomy jobs are in high demand.
Established in 2004, RCI, together with local hospitals, labs, and clinics, have trained and educated hundreds of students towards new careers in the medical field. The Institute provides training in the rapidly expanding field of Phlebotomy and Venipuncture as well as IV Therapy, Blood Withdrawal, and ECG/ECG. Regan Career Institute’s Phlebotomist training program is famous for its strong training and externship program as well as a high job sourcing rate following California certification.
Students in the new RCI program will complete a 40-hour didactic course in the classroom and a 40-hour externship at a medical site.
The first part of the course teaches students about disease control, anatomy, medical terminology, vein selection and patient identification. Then students go on to learn about biohazard techniques, risk factors and legal issues associated with blood collection and Venipuncture. In addition RCI also offers IV/Blood Withdrawal and EKG/ECG certification programs.
RCI’s Phlebotomy program is approved by the State of California's Department of Health Services and its students are qualified to take the national certification exam following 80 hours of coursework and externship experience.
