Two politicians are brutally murdered in Upper Weardale, England and local police have very little clues to go on.
Enter Detective Sergeant Armstrong, who links the murders to one of the wealthiest businessmen in the valley, Sir Stuart Caulder. Caulder, known for his corrupt business dealings, had a business venture with a local farmer, Frank Allanton.
The detective discovers that Allanton and his wife, Pamela, allowed Caulder to use their property with the promise of financial gain. But Caulder’s scheme became a nightmare for the Allantons and their property was slowly destroyed while Caulder walked away with a profit.
When Pamela Allanton dies suddenly, Frank’s grief consumes him. He’s lost everything he ever loved and vows revenge -- meaning destroying Caulder and anyone associated with the man. But how far will he be willing to go?
As Detective Armstrong uncovers more clues about the liaison between Caulder and Frank, he’s not sure who is responsible. Did a corrupt businessman go too far and murder for his own agenda or did a good man filled with grief step over the line to obtain his own form of justice?
