Holocentric Demonstrates World's First Web 2.0 Enterprise Modelling Solution at CeBIT Australia 2009

Award Winning Modelpedia Solution Allows Organisations to Build and Share Holistic Enterprise Models Within a Collaborative Environment

May 13, 2009 - PRLog -- Sydney, CeBIT Australia,  Leading Australian enterprise modelling software provider, Holocentric [www.holocentric.com], today demonstrated Modelpedia, the world's first Web 2.0 enterprise modelling solution, at CeBIT Australia 2009.

This innovative Australian-developed software extends the existing Holocentric Modeler to create the world's first true enterprise modelling solution, allowing organisations to build holistic enterprise models within a collaborative environment and share those models within and outside the organisation.

"By improving the way that organisations describe and communicate the work that they do, and by involving all stakeholders, Holocentric's solutions have the potential to revolutionise the way that organisations operate," said Bruce Nixon, Holocentric's Chief Executive Officer.

"Holocentric recognises that organisational change can only be successfully implemented with the buy-in of the people it affects," said Nixon. "With Modelpedia, we have taken a major step by increasing the ability of all stakeholders to contribute to and collaborate in the development of models and the implementation of change. Further, Modelpedia promotes a culture of continual and sustainable improvement as it becomes the reference for operational procedures and ongoing feedback."

Holocentric has a successful seven year track record helping customers implement change by building a better understanding of where they are, where they to want to go and how to get there. The company has provided sophisticated multi-dimensional enterprise modelling solutions to Australian organisations including the ATO, Centrelink, NSW Police, Qantas, United Group, NRMA, RailCorp, IP Australia, ComSuper, DIISR and Resi Mortgage Corporation.

Modelpedia is a collaborative, Web 2.0 modelling environment that encourages all stakeholders to participate in improving how an organisation works. It does this by personalising the view of model information such as business processes so that people can see, comment on and improve the way work is done.

Unlike other Wiki-style tools, Modelpedia's collaborative capabilities centre on structured content -- securely managed in an enterprise repository -- incorporating feedback and suggestions within the context of an enterprise model.

Holocentric recently won a prestigious Consensus Software Award for Modelpedia, which was considered by the invited panel of judges to be innovative and deliver performance benefits to the user.

"Modelpedia focuses on one, largely underprovided area of modeling: the social and collaborative aspect. Modeling is supposed to be a collaborative, shared activity, yet tools to date can only be used by one person at a time," according to the Consensus Software Award judges' citation.

"To many, the area of modeling appears abstract and even irrelevant to the 'real world'. There is in fact, a clear and valuable market for such tools when complexity is high, many people need to understand that complex landscape, collaborate, and subsequently base decisions on their understanding of those models. This is where models and modeling tools come into their element," stated the judges' citation.

"However, the typical cycle of workshop / publish / re-workshop for feedback (and using volumes of emails to exchange feedback) is cumbersome, asynchronous and prone to error, since the commentary is separate from the model itself. This is how Modelpedia helps. By associating feedback and commentary directly onto the model and actually in the model, the loop of model-feedback-model change is made that much more efficient and effective," added the citation.

"Modelpedia explores this area now with strong browser-based modeling capability (which alone pushes the product into the innovative territory). The vision of bringing Wiki culture and function (which is open, flexible and collaborative) to an area which is traditionally individual and difficult to collaborate with, is commendable and exciting."
