Hydroxycut – a popular weight-loss supplement available in pills, powders, and liquids – has been recalled by its US distributer Iovate Health Services. The supplement has been linked to dangerous liver damage in 23 cases so far, with more reports likely to come. Reported symptoms have ranged from yellowed skin associated with jaundice to liver failure.

Researchers have not yet determined exactly which component makes Hydroxycut, which has been advertised as all-natural, so dangerous. One study has pointed towards hydroxycitric acid, a derivative from tropical fruit that can cause liver damage in some cases. Obstacles faced by researchers include the fact that Hydroxycut’s formula has been modified several times, as well as the fact that adverse reactions to consumer goods are not always reported to the correct officials.
So far there has only been one fatality associated with Hydroxycut: a 19 year old male from the Southwest who passed away from liver failure in 2007. Additionally, one former Hydroxycut user has been forced to undergo a liver transplant, while a second is on an organ donor waitlist. Representatives from the Food and Drug Administration are urging all consumers to cease use of the supplement now.
If you or a member of your family has suffered dangerous side effects from Hydroxycut use, you could have grounds for legal action. To learn more, contact Hydroxycut liver damage attorneys Williams Kherkher at 800-761-3187 or visit http://www.hydroxycut-
