Early in 2009 a momentous decision was taken by The Prem Center to open a dedicated Football Academy.
Football is the world’s number one sport and is played in most countries so it was appropriate that Prem should acknowledge this popularity by having an academy where players can improve their skills and learn more about the game.
The Academy, under the direction of Alan Sparkes, a former semi-professional player with many years’ experience of playing and coaching football, will provide opportunities to play football for twelve months of the year.
The Prem Football Academy will be available to all players irrespective of age, gender, ability or lifestyle preferences and will help to improve players’ social skills and lifestyle choices.
All training sessions will be constructed under the principles set out by the English FA (Football Association)
- The Academy will work on improving players’ skills and understanding of playing systems
- The Academy will have groups of up to twelve players per coach so there will be plenty of individual coaching and working within a team.
- Players’ performance will be monitored and then structured sessions will be arranged to improve their techniques and skills.
- The Academy will work on tactics and fitness according to players’ age and ability.
- The Academy will include theoretical sessions, looking at systems and styles of play, analysing team and individual performances in professional games. Professional players’ abilities will also be analysed.
