May 8, 2009 - PRLog -- On Saturday, May 23, Award-winning Columbus act “Long Tall Deb and the Drifter Kings” will team up with Cambridge all-stars “the Blues Cannibals” and “The Troubled Troubadours” for a special blues event at the Cambridge Elks #448. The event is open to the public. Partial proceeds from the event will benefit the “Jammin’ for Johnson” Music Scholarship Fund for grade school youth.

The show will open with an acoustic set by The Troubled Troubadours. They will be followed in the second set by the electric blues act The Blues Cannibals. The closing set will feature the dynamic Columbus 4-piece electric blues act Long Tall Deb and the Drifter Kings.

Long Tall Deb and the Drifter Kings blend a unique and tasty mix of Delta, Piedmont, Texas and Chicago blues, boogie-woogie, New Orleans style, and classic R&B and soul with generous helpings of original music.

The band is quickly gaining a loyal fan-base and acclaim for their dynamic and soulful live shows that range from intimate club settings to large outdoor festivals.

Members of the band include vocalist Deb Landolt, guitarist Richey B, Melvin Powe on bass and Doug "New York" Oscard on drums. They are the winners of the 2009 River City Ohio Blues Competition and are set to compete in the 2010 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, Tennessee.

The annual IBC is the largest gathering of blues acts in the world. Artists compete for cash, prizes, and industry recognition as well as a slot on high-profile festivals and club dates throughout the year.

The Blues Cannibals are based out of the Cambridge and Byesville area. The band has opened for the the late-great Bo Diddley  at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio.  They have also been the back-up band on a series of shows for Ms. Shirley King, daughter of blues legend B.B. King.

Influenced by the greats from Clarksdale, Mississippi, to Chicago, they have been performing heart-throbbing, toe-tapping, up-tempo ‘Chicago’ as well as modern, contemporary original blues since 1996.

The Trouble Troubadors are local to Cambridge and give the audience a flavor of traditional blues and contemporary acoustic sounds. The ‘Troubadours’ are fairly new to the ‘live’ music scene and have already established a following and upcoming dates, both locally and out of town.
