(SPOKANE, Wash.) – St. John’s Cathedral is sponsoring “Swing in the Cathedral for Military Families” featuring the 18 piece Tuxedo Junction Big Band in St. John’s Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009. Tickets are $10.00 through TicketsWest (325-SEAT), St. John’s Cathedral (838-4277) or at the door. The goals of the concert are to: (1) Honor military personnel and their families; and (2) Raise funds to help military families facing financial hardships.
The net proceeds from this charity event will be donated to Operation Spokane Heroes for distribution to military families in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho who are facing financial hardships due to their loved ones being called to active duty and/or deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and other distance places. Operation Spokane Heroes is a partnership between Greater Spokane Incorporated and other community groups and business. The goal of Operation Spokane Heroes is to make sure that the men and women who serve our country and make sacrifices on our behalf know that their loved ones are being taken care of back home.
Tuxedo Junction is heralded as the “Best Big Band” in the Inland Empire. Its music ranges from the golden era of the Big Bands to the new standards of today. Everything from Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Duke Ellington to waltzes, Latin, and more allows the sound of this Big Band to be a thrill for all. Great music for your ears and dancing feet!
