As A Level exam time begins, Lattitude Global Volunteering reminds students of the existence of life after exams, and suggests planning something to look forward to afterwards as a motivational tool.
Students are given loads of advice at this time of year, from how to revise and sit the exams, to eating well, sleeping well and being prepared. Whilst these are all valuable tips to help students through the exam season, what about planning for when it is over?
After all the hard work leading up to and during exam time, students deserve to do something fun and it can be great motivation to have something to look forward to after the exams are finished, like taking a gap year and doing something different.
Rather than backpacking, students planning on taking a year out should consider making a difference by living in another country and taking part in a volunteering project. There are many opportunities available at www.lattitude.org.uk, from environmental projects in Australia to community projects in Brazil. Alternatively volunteers could find themselves teaching in India, leading outdoor education projects in Canada or on a medical placement in Japan.
