When we first opened Hope Tech Global in Beijing, China in 2009, we were concerned about being able to find the right type of employees who possess not only a good work-ethic but an honest one as well. Let's face it, China is known for its excessive corruption and bribery practices along with the foundation of mistrust between employer and employee. Since the vision at Hope Tech Global is to bring Western ethics and management to the electronic product design and China manufacturing market in order to offer Western customers the design, quality and service of the West at China pricing, we were very concerned at the potential prospects for hiring Chinese employees who would be able to fit into this model. But very quickly we have found that there is a new resource pool that has been more than 20 years in the making and that can now be tapped for the benefit of any company looking to provide honest and ethical business approaches to both customer and employee. That resource is the 130,000,000 Chinese Christians that now populate this massive country.
Through networking certain channels we came upon HR firms who specialize in finding ethical foreign companies for their large pool of Christian candidates who are looking to work in firms that are not corrupt and dishonest that they are so used to. These candidates are looking for something more than their native companies can offer them. They desire trust, honesty, proper training and investment from their employers and to learn another way of doing business that does not compromise their new-found faith and morals.
Since there are so few foreign companies in China that offer an ethical and honest working environment, we have been pleasantly surprised by the massive pool of these honest Chinese natives who are amply qualified and seeking employment. The world economic crisis has of course helped to increase unemployment which is a sad thing but it has also given companies like Hope Tech Global a resource that is very beneficial. We are actually getting to choose the "cream of the crop" per say. Now don't get me wrong, practicing business ethically and honestly is still a relatively new concept to even the 130,000,000 Chinese Christians. However, we are finding that they are more than ready and eager to learn and require much less training than many American counterparts.
