Since the start of the recession, 2.4 million hard-working individuals have lost their health insurance, 1.3 million of those in the last four months according to current U.S. Census Bureau data. The No Insurance Club, a members-only, pre-paid healthcare program, has created a buzz with a new way to drastically lower the cost of seeing the family doctor, making it easier for anyone to afford health care.
“Health care has become a national crisis,” said Chad Harris, No Insurance Club director. “More than 40 million people go to bed at night without health insurance due to the outrageous costs of being insured.”
Recent signs have emerged that U.S. health insurers already hurt by lower membership because of the weak economy may face more fallout from the recession: higher medical costs, according to Thomas Reuters. This will only translate, and already has in some areas, into higher medical fees for the insured.
The No Insurance Club has stepped up its efforts to reach those millions who can no longer afford health coverage. With doctors already in Phoenix, San Diego, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Vancouver, WA and New York City, the Club is looking to expand and enroll 2,000 doctors within the next 36 months.
“The No Insurance Club is exactly what patents need. It is a perfect bridge to cross the gap for millions of patients that have no insurance, who have recently lost their benefits, or have catastrophic coverage and no basic doctor visit services. An entire year-membership with the Club runs about the same as a single month’s premium with traditional medical insurance. Individual members pay $480 per year, couples $580 and families $680.
While health care premiums have risen 5 percent in the past year, the Club requires no premiums, no co-pays or deductibles, and offers complete VIP services. Members avoid hassle by receiving preferential appointment setting, free office visits, and most physicians offer discounted in-house prescription services, and annual full panel blood tests.
