HSI Announces Medical Director and Chair, Medical Advisory Board: Dr. William Hammill

Health & Safety Institute (HSI) family of brands, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. William Hammill as Medical Director and Chair, HSI Medical Advisory Board.

PR Log (Press Release)May 06, 2009 – Dr. Hammill is a Pediatric Cardiologist at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree from Wofford College in South Carolina and completed his pediatric residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Virginia. Dr. Hammill has been involved with the development of the 2000 and 2005 International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science and Treatment Recommendation as well as the 2000 and 2005 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.

“Dr. Hammill brings a unique background to HSI from his clinical experience to program development to research to running a training center” explains Bill Clendenen, HSI CEO. “We couldn’t have a more qualified person in the role and we’re thrilled to have him join our team as we approach the next medical guidelines update.”

As medical director for HSI, Dr. Hammill provides medical leadership, oversight, and access to best practices to ensure HSI training programs are safe, effective, and of high quality. In advising and consulting with HSI, the HSI medical director helps to set and preserve the parameters by which the medical accuracy and quality of training materials is defined including the evaluation and approval of training materials based on those parameters.

The Medical Board is one of three advisory boards that provide recommendations to the management and board of directors of the HSI. The goal of the medical board is to assure training program content is; based on evidence where available, consistent with widely-accepted medical, legal, and educational guidelines, simple, and teachable. The responsibilities of the medical board include providing scientific evidence, expert opinion, recommendation and review of HSI program content, publications, and statements and providing advice and counsel to other HSI program advisory groups.
