Hercules and Trek Stars to Headline Florida Convention

The Wrath of Con is a 3-day Sci-Fi Convention and Film Festival, but also celebrates Gaming, Costuming, etc. The annual event is held at the Marriott Bay Point Resort and Spa in Panama City Beach, Florida, from May 29-31, 2009.
 
May 5, 2009 - PRLog -- Sci-Fi actors, fans, scientists, film makers and professionals from across the globe will converge on the Marriott Bay Point Resort and Spa in Panama City Beach, Florida on May 29-31, 2009. The reason for this intergalactic gathering? It's none other than North Florida's Premier Sci-Fi Event, The Wrath of Con!

The Wrath of Con's three-day event schedule features Hollywood celebrities and caters to a wide variety of interests, ranging from the casual television viewer to fans of the truly exotic.

Among the celebrities appearing at the show will be:

Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, Captain Dylan Hunt from “Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda”),

Jerry Doyle (Security Chief Michael Garibaldi) and Andrea Thompson (the telepath Talia) from the Sci-Fi epic series "Babylon 5",

J.G. Hertzler (Chancellor Martok) and Chase Masterson (Leeta) from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine",

Tim Russ (Tuvok) from “Star Trek: Voyager”,

John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox) from “Star Trek: Enterprise”,

Bonita Friedericy (General Beckman) from “Chuck”!

The newest film in the STAR TREK franchise will be released in May, and fans are sure to have plenty of questions for the actors and other remarkable celebrity guests at The Wrath of Con!

Fans may bring their own items for the stars to autograph but the actors will have photos available as well.

In addition to the television stars, The Wrath of Con presents a lineup of scientists who will entertain and explain why "Science Fact is Stranger than Science Fiction".

The Wrath of Con rounds out the guest list with Film Makers, such as Robert Meyer Burnett, writer/director of the indie smash hit "Free Enterprise", and Director Chip Chalmers, who helmed numerous episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and is now on the senior faculty at the renowned Florida State University Film School.

Speaking of Films, The Wrath of Con’s "Sci-Fi Sundance" indie film festival will bring the cutting edge of Sci-Fi independent films to the fans in attendance, with prizes awarded to the Best Short Film, the Best Feature Film, and the Best Fan-Film.

Participation events at The Wrath of Con for 2008 include a 24-hour gaming room, Costume Contest, Discussion Panels on topics ranging from space travel to ghost hunting, Workshops conducted by the celebrities, a Saturday night Blowout Bash, as well as numerous seperate ticketed parties and events such as a VIP Cocktail Party with the celebrities hosted in Jerry Doyle’s hotel suite!

For those who desire the full convention experience, the hotel has reduced its rates on rooms booked for the convention, just mention "The Wrath of Con", and because the scheduled content for Friday and Saturday nights runs into the early morning hours, remaining on-site is recommended.

The Wrath of Con is an annual convention open to the public to attend, experience, and participate. Advance tickets for access to all three days of programming are only $40 and tickets may be purchased online via paypal at the convention website, www.wrathofcon.org.
