May 5, 2009 - PRLog -- Raleigh, North Carolina – April 7 2009 – Ajinomoto AminoScience, LLC,  will introduce the Corynex™ Recombinant Protein Expression System , a streamlined , more efficient  process to express proteins at the 2009 BIO International Convention in Atlanta from May 18-21.

Ajinomoto’s Corynex ™ (www.corynex.com) overcomes traditional microbial expression difficulties by secreting correctly folded, active proteins directly into the growth media.  The Corynex System eliminates costly and time consuming downstream purification which reduces production costs and accelerates the speed to market for its pharmaceutical and biotech partners.

Jack Heaton, president of Ajinomoto AminoScience says the BIO International Convention is the perfect stage for the introduction of Corynex.  Some twenty thousand life science professionals from seventy countries are expected to attend the show.  The Convention is the largest global event for the biotechnology industry.

“At BIO we hope to establish Corynex partnerships within the biotechnology industry and help our partners be more efficient in the product development and manufacturing process”, says Heaton.

This advanced technology is Ajinomoto’s answer to a recent analysis of biotechnology manufacturing by BioPlan Associates, a biotechnology marketing research firm in Rockville, Maryland.  In the January 2009 study entitled “Genetic Expression Systems: Current and Future Manufacturing Platforms,” the firm outlines the need for advances in manufacturing.  The study describes a “reluctance” by companies to modernize with new technology and methodologies so products can be made “more efficiently and to higher clinical standards.”

“With the debut of our new system, we demonstrate that Ajinomoto is an unrivaled industry leader,” says Heaton.  “We have answered the industry’s call to develop better technology to meet our customer’s needs.”

Ajinomoto, the Worlds’ largest manufacturer of amino acids, was the first company in the World to identify, refine and market amino acids.  The Company is considered the leader in pioneering new technologies and research and development of amino acids.  The Raleigh, North Carolina facility, which began production in 1982, is the only U.S. manufacturer of cGMP pharmaceutical grade amino acids.  Key applications include use in therapeutic pharmaceutical development, cell culture media, parenteral and clinical nutrition, health foods and food applications.
