Our main goal is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of lupus in Illinois and educate lupus patients about our programs and services. Our second goal is to reach out to the Health Care Professionals and provide them with relevant information about lupus, informing them of educational opportunities and providing information about our programs and services.

Lupus is an unpredictable and potentially fatal disease affecting 65,000 Illinois residents – approximately 1 in every 200 Illinoisans. Lupus can be destructive to almost any organ or tissue in the body, yet no satisfactory treatment or cure exists. Of particular concern is the unexplained prevalence of lupus among women and minority populations—the disease affects nine times more women than men, and it is two to three times more common among African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans. As a non-profit organization, it is our job to educate the public about lupus.
