Richmond, VA based VABION  LLC, (VABION)

VABION LLC (VABION) announced today Jason Yu, a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and marketing manager at the company, will compete in three running events in three consecutive days later this month.  The company is challenging others in the fitness community to join him.  The three events are the Riverrock Events on May 15 and May 16, and the Carytown 10K road race on May 17.

“I will be working extremely hard training and maintaining a well balanced diet before the May 15-17 events, said Jason Yu. “I am not looking to win the gold medal and a PR would be great, but rather to enjoy what Richmond running is and enjoy this experience with two of my fraternity brothers.”  It is the first time for all three amateur runners, all members of Sigma Phi Epsilon, to register for races in three consecutive days.

According to Dr. Susan Hardwicke, VABION chief executive, “May is going to be an exciting month for runners and the city of Richmond. It’s a tribute to the city and the energized fitness community to showcase three popular events in as many days.” The company plans to support the events through social networking and distributing free samples of its popular energy supplement, Diesel Energy Stix.

About the Events

Sponsored by Dominion, the annual Riverrock Events will take place May 15 and May 16, 2009 at Browns Island celebrating Richmond’s river life and on May 17 the Carytown 10K road race will take place sponsored by the Richmond Road Runners Club.

On Friday May 15, The Filthy Run 5K will take place 6PM. The 5k Mud Run kicks off Dominion Riverrock with some down and dirty fun. The race starts on Browns Island and takes you through unique obstacles through the trails that run over to Belle Isle. With the rocks and river in your view, the course offers a breath taking experience. The course takes runners back to Browns Island where its one final mud pit before crossing the finish line. A free outdoor concert awaits featuring Rusted Root and local Richmond bands.

On Saturday May 16, the James River Scramble takes off at Brown's Island 9AM. This 10K trail race is the most unique course overall. Runners go under and cross the Manchester Bridge, run pass the floodwalls, head across the James River, encounter spectacular views of downtown Richmond and the river, run up series of steps, before finishing back on Brown’s Island.

The final race on Sunday May 17 is the Carytown 10K, a signature event sponsored by the Richmond Road Runners Club.  In its fifth year, the Carytown 10K is a seemingly flat course (USA track and field certified). The course starts at historic Cary Court Shopping Center and takes runners through Cary Street and Grove Avenue. This will be Jason Yu’s second year participating in the Carytown 10K.
