When the Santa Barbara Zoo recently remodeled their new eco-friendly gift store they turned to Eco-Lite Products to provide energy efficient lighting. The zoo was looking to not only make the merchandise and fashion jewelry at the store look great but, at the same time, be “green” about it in order to help preserve the environment. Howard Gurock, President of Eco-Lite Products, worked closely with the zoo’s retail designer, Marjorie Sheldon, in assisting with the type and placement of the lights to correspond with the overall store theme and lighting plan.
Eco-Lite provided the gift store with a combination of energy efficient track and decorative pendant light fixtures that were custom made per the zoo’s specifications at their facility in Tappan, New York. In keeping with Sheldon’s eco-friendly mandate, the lights were a combination of 22 watt and 39 watt ceramic metal halide fixtures which emitted lighting that possessed exceptional color and brilliance. The result was incredibly high quality lighting that used considerably less power than traditional halogen fixtures.
Eco-Lite was honored to have been selected by the retail designer and then approved by the Santa Barbara Zoo as the lighting supplier. According to Gurock, “when Marjorie contacted us she made it clear from the start that we had to provide an eco-friendly solution to her beautiful store design. The assigned task was to illuminate all of the stores merchandise and displays in a way that demonstrated the zoo’s commitment to the environment without sacrificing anything. Our team worked very hard to create a solution for the zoo that met that task.” After the lighting was installed, Sheldon inspected the fixtures and sought the opinions of the zoo employees who would be working under the new eco-friendly lighting. Sheldon was extremely satisfied with the result of what Eco-Lite had provided and when asked how the zoo employees at the gift store liked the new energy efficient lighting Sheldon commented that “the Zoo team is very very happy “ .
