More and more couples are taking their weddings on the road. Whether a result of the economy or the convenience, studies show that destination weddings have experienced a dramatic spike in popularity over the last 10 years.
“Think about it,” says Chris Willis, producer of the Excursions television show. “You can spend $25,000, $30,000, get married somewhere local, then spend another $5,000 on your honeymoon. Or you can package it all together, spend less money and get a dream wedding in the islands or the mountains or on the beach. It makes perfect sense.”
To keep up with demand, many resorts and wedding planners have begun to specialize in the field, designing all-inclusive destination wedding packages that range from economical to extravagant.
