Follow on Google News | COAG Commitment to Help Build Tomorrow’s Workforce TodayCME, the peak resources sector representative body in Western Australia welcomes the announcement by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) to provide guaranteed education and training places to people between 17 and 25 years of age.
By: Danni Wilson "CME's recently published joint industry-government Growth Outlook Study highlights that substantial growth in WA is projected to return in the medium to long-term. "Results of the Study show the State's growth trajectory out to 2020 will be positive, and increasing demands from Government and industry will place pressure on labour supply similar to that of recent boom times. "The COAG initiatives to ensure young Australians under the age of 25 have an entitlement to an education or training place to improve their skills and qualifications is a significant step towards developing the next generation of skilled people for when the industry recovers," said Mr Howard-Smith. Mr Howard-Smith said the COAG announcement signified critical acknowledgement of the importance of education and training to the future success of industry. He also stressed the importance of training delivery to be both reflective of and responsive to industry needs. The WA resources sector contributes significant resources towards training and CME's recent publication, ‘Building Tomorrow's Workforce Today' outlines the sector's commitment to training across Western Australia. # # # The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA has designed this site for you to explore the career possibilities in the resources sector.
