In 1970, Jimmy Buffett recorded his first album “Down To Earth,” which was a combination of folk and rock music. Soon after the release of this album, Buffett moved to Key West where he began to establish his well known ‘beach bum’ personality. Many of Buffett’s songs are a mix of country, folk and pop with underlying tropical lyric themes. The music is described as having a ‘gulf and western’ sound.
In 1977, Jimmy Buffett released one of his most famous albums titled “Changes in Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes.” This album featured his hit song “Margaritaville.”
In August 2000, Jimmy partnered with The Coral Reefer Band and played at the White House for President Bill Clinton. His album called “License To Chill,” was release in July of 2004 and sold over 2000,000 copies in the first week.
Most recently Buffett wrote and co-produced the 2006 film “Hoof.” He has also made several guest appearances in movies such as: Repo Man, Hook, Congo and From The Earth To The Moon.
