Tamiflu Approved For Use Against Swine Flu, But Timing Is Critical Factor In Effectiveness

If taken too late, Tamiflu does little to arrest H1N1 bug and stop spread of virus.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - May 04, 2009 -
Vancouver, B.C. – The swine influenza (H1N1) that has hit Mexico has jumped borders into the US, Canada, Spain, Israel, Britain, Switzerland, Peru, Austria, New Zealand and Germany and is causing many to frantically search for medical protection.

The World Health Organization, which has raised the threat awareness level to five out of six, has cleared Tamiflu (oseltamivir), an antiviral drug, for use against H1N1. The Centers for Disease Control also recommends it. President Obama has asked congress for $1.5 billion to help battle the current and potential cases of the virus by stockpiling different medicines including Tamiflu.

Tamiflu is an anti-viral drug that has been in production for a decade. It is believed that Tamiflu helps to fight the flu once a person has been infected. However, when the drug is taken is a critical factor in its effectiveness.

“Tamiflu needs to be ingested within the first two days of showing symptoms or contracting the virus,” says Doctor Zickler of DoctorSolve Healthcare Services. A doctor’s prescription is required in order to buy Tamiflu online. By the time symptoms are evident and patients can see a doctor, it’s often past the point when the bug can be arrested. “Most patients take it too late for it to do any good.” If you need a referral to a physician’s office for a Tamiflu prescription consultation, please call us at 1-866-732-0305 or visit http://www.doctorsolve.com.”

Meanwhile, Zickler says good old-fashioned hygiene can increase your chances of staying healthy. “Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. Eat healthy and exercise. Above all, keep an open mind and a level head when it comes to the H1N1 flu. Fear comes from not knowing, and that can lead to undue stress, which in the long run is much more harmful to your health and well being.”
