And nothing has been the same since... GREENSBURG - 28 West Second Gallery & Studio Space presents Women of the World, May 9 - June 6, 2009. Reception is Saturday May 4, 2009, 7 - 10 PM. The press and public is invited to attend this special event. The all women exhibition, curated by Michelle Eng-Bendik, Gallery Director raises feminist issues and gender awareness in a subtle yet powerful way. The collected body of work presented in Women of World, may not be from the bra-burning generation of feminist, but we still, Want it all: family, career, equality, empowerment, a beautiful planet and a bright future. The represented artists are women of the new generation, striving to build a world of their own, where they can have it all. Ashley Andrews, photography a Greensburg native and graduate of University of Pittsburgh. Ms. Andrews is currently living in Maui, Hawaii working as an organic farmer. Her photography captures images, unadulterated (no post-processing) Emilie Bosworth-Clemens, fiber arts and painting a Vermont native, graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2005. She currently lives in Pittsburgh and working as a set designer, painter, quilter, urban tracker and avid camper. Ms. Bosworth -Clemens' hand-made rendition civil war, slave quilts represent marginalized women throughout history and their struggle to provide for their families. Jennifer Palmer, photography from Greensburg, recently earned her MA in digital photography from the Savannah College of Art & Design, and a BA in studio art from Seton Hill University, where she also studied Art Therapy at the graduate level. Ms. Palmer's photography is a deep introspective of one's own spiritual existence, expressing vulnerability in the highest form, while seeking connections to intangible places. Cassie Staub, photography currently resides in Pittsburgh. She graduated from Endinboro University of Pennsylvania with a BFA Applied Media Arts and Photography. Ms. Staub's self-portraits are conceptualized depictions of iconic women from the the Bible and scenes of herself amongst abandoned ruins. Holland Williams, painting, teaches Studio Design & Drawing at Slipper Rock University. She earned her MFA in Painting from Temple University, Tyler School of Art and her BFA in Fine Arts in Painting from Slippery Rock University.
