Helping the Environment, One Tween At a Time

It seems that no matter how economically dire we become, our kids still come out on top, with their cell phones, electronics, and clothes...expensive ones. Finally, a business opens that knows what they want, and need, while helping parents sleep a little better at night. Tween Scene Boutique is a recycled clothing store, for tween girls, which carries gently used and new items which it sells for less than half of retail. "You mean, I can get that Abercrombie tee and those Hollister shorts for under $30?" a customer squeals while holding 10 other items? "Yes, and while you are at it...your kid can make her own shower gel for later!," owner, Tristina Cole responds.

What a concept, a clothing store for tweens, which is WIFI, which buys, sells and trades clothing and hosts birthday parties, they do it all.  Owner, Tristina Cole, tells us that soon, she will be everythingtween.com, a site and store which carries, or can acquire anything relating to the ages 7-12 for girls.  "We want to become a one stop shop for tween girls" Cole states. There is nothing like being at work, and hearing girls come into the store and scream with delight as they run around. "They are so perceptive to the need to being green, and are so open and non-judgmental about the fact that most of the clothing has been used," Cole tells us.  Cole was afraid that Santa Monica moms would not go for the used concept, however, they love it. We love it, and we love seeing them happy with this alternative way of spending.

There is never a dull moment at the shop because either little girls are shopping and dancing around, or movie night is going on (a movie is shown for the girls as her parents go out) or a party is happening.

Teaching tweens about recycling, fashion, fiscal responsibility were all in Cole's plans.  "I knew it was time to do something to better this environment and economy, as I was affected too by it all having a 9 year old" Cole tells us while labeling some products. She does it all at the shop and behind the scenes.

Tracy Herring is Cole's business partner. Herring handles all of the party preparations, and the buying of clothing.  "We wanted to be a Crossroads for tween girls" Herring states proudly.  They love this business, that is clear. "We plan on opening Tween Scenes all over the U.S." both women say at the same time.

It was past time that we change our ways of retailing. Resale is the new retail, and waste is so out!

With a motto like "Where Pink is Green" how can they go wrong? The environment, the economy and parents all over Santa Monica California are saying "thank you" to Tween Scene Boutique.
