Mr. Moore, a leading authority on photography of the performing arts, has been taking
pictures for the past 30 years of all kinds of artistic and eccentric performers ranging
from magicians, clowns, puppeteers, mimes, ventriloquists, performance artists, and
sword swallowers to tightrope and high wire walkers. Photos of Philippe Petit, star of
last year’s award winning documentary, Man on Wire, will be on view as well as a
number of the photographs that were used in the film.
Besides Philippe Petit, some of the other well known variety and performance artists that
will be on display are: Eric Bogosian; Paul Zaloom; Marcel Marceau; world famous
juggler, Francis Brunn; world famous magician, Slydini; sword swallower, Joey Colon;
world renown clowns, Joel Jeske, Gardi Hutter and Kinko the Clown; along with many
others.
Mr. Moore was a mime street performer during the 70’s and 80’s and has a unique
perception as well as being particularly adept at capturing precise and striking moments
of revelry and performance using his insider’s eye.
The exhibit UP and cLOWN: A Photographic Cacophony of Eccentric Performers will
feature over 300 photographs that include behind the scenes shots at venues such as The
Big Apple Circus, Bottom Line, Dixon Place and The New York Downtown Clown Revue,
where Jim is currently photographer in residence.
The exhibition will be projected onto four large high definition monitors and a digital
