The mandate of the newly established Foundation, whose name means the Cloud of Dharma, is to provide a framework to educate spiritual seekers about the history and essence of the Prajna Paramita tradition, thus contributing in reviving the great tradition in India.
The tradition initially was elaborated in the ancient Nalanda University. Eventually these precious teachings were to disappear from India to be preserved for many centuries in Tibet. Only recently the Nalanda tradition has found its way back to the land of its origin through the medium of Tibetan Buddhists. The tradition, however, remains largely undiscovered in India at present.
Dharma Megha Foundation plans to be engaged in a wide range of activities to reach out to as many Dharma aspirants as possible and to provide a framework to connect authentic holders of the teachings and sincere Dharma seekers. These activities will include opening educational centers around the country, providing teachings, holding seminars and conferences and organizing dialogues between scholar-practitioners of different faiths.
As a first step, a new meditation & study center shall be established in Hyderabad. It is significant that Dharma Megha happens to initiate its mission in the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh is known to be the birth place of Arya Nagarjuna. This great Indian pandit, on account of the breadth and profundity of his teachings is widely acknowledged as a cornerstone of the Mahayana Buddhism. The Hyderabad Center is a tribute to one of the greatest Indian teachers of Dharma.
Bodhi Sampanna will be a center for the study and practice of Mahayana Buddhism. Teachings by highly learned lamas on various aspects of the Buddhist philosophy and meditation techniques will be offered to public for free.
Inauguration ceremony will take place on the auspicious day of Buddha Poornima, May 9, Saturday, at Chitramayee State Gallery of Fine Art, Kavuri Hills, Madhapur. Venerable Khangser Rinpoche, one of the foremost Buddhist scholars and practitioners of our time, will give an introductory teaching on the Four Noble Truths.
