Innovative programs with support from Government agencies like USAID are helping thousands of Colombian floral workers such as programs like Cultivating Peace in the Family, A Core program aimed at non-violent conflict resolution, the program offered for free to floral workers has already served 65,000 families since its humble beginnings as a pilot program outside of Bogota.
Other programs such as the School of Floriculture have taken dramatic steps forward in education and reduction of Colombians Internally displaced population. The focus is to give skill sets to needy populations and to allow them to earn greater incomes.

Canadian Consumers known for their “thoughtful spending” is a great example of the need for increased consumer spending in the floral sector, as each dollar spent in Canada at supermarkets or florists in Vancouver, Montreal or Calgary add to the support of Colombian workers.
To date, Colombia has been given an excellent field to consumer program to retailers therefore, becoming the number one supplier year after year. The most important element is to Educate Canadian Consumers about Colombia and its floral industry, Through consumer education the next logical step is increased consumer spending on Colombia fresh flowers.
