Follow on Google News | Tricks of the trade tuition at Swansea MuseumPAINTING, pottery and weaving are among the tricks of the trade being taught at historic Swansea Museum next week.
By: City and County of Swansea Experts in each discipline will be on hand at the Victoria Road attraction from Saturday May 9 to Saturday May 16 as part of Adult Learners Week. And the following four events have been arranged over the seven days to help people learn new artforms or to brush up on their skills. * Saturday May 9 from 10am to 4pm: Pottery for all the family with David Merchant where people will have the chance to work with clay or have a go on a potter's wheel. The workshops are free and people can pop in at any time. * Tuesday May 12 from 10am to noon and from 2pm to 4pm: Felt making from fleece to fabric with Denise Morgan. This will offer the chance to work with dyed merino wall, card it and prepare it with soap and water. * Thursday May 14 from 10am to 4pm: Spinning and weaving with Denise Morgan. This will offer the chance to start with a raw fleece and to learn about the spinning wheel and the basics of weaving. * Saturday May 16 from 10am to 4pm: Art in a secret place at Swansea Museum's Landore collection with Mary Hayman. The chance is being made available for people to enjoy a day's drawing and painting objects such as lifeboats, motorbikes and traction engines in expert company. Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: "Swansea Museum is one of our most treasured tourist attractions and this is a great chance for people to learn creative skills in an historical setting with experts on hand to offer guidance and tips. "People are never too old to learn and this is why events such as Adult Learning Week are so important."
