Are You Sure You Are Ready For Electronic Medical Records?

Free lunchtime workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 12th, at 11:30 am EST at the Town Point Club in Norfolk, VA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - May 01, 2009 -
It’s a given that healthcare is going digital. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has given hospitals and physicians $Billions of reasons to adopt an Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) system to improve the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of healthcare in America. You’ve heard the buzz, you know it’s something you will need to tackle in the next several years, but where do you begin? Perhaps you have already purchased a system but are having great difficulty migrating totally away from paper or getting your team to buy-in. You have highly-trained staff spending valuable time imaging legacy files (and hopefully indexing…)  and spending less time working with patients or collecting receivables.  It’s your job to accomplish this enormous task.  How can you be the practice “hero” and help to transform your office into an efficient and effective workplace? Register now for the free lunchtime workshop at http://www.unitysystems.biz/workshop.asp

EMR/EHR and patient management software applications can significantly reduce the paper generated in an medical office or care facility, but the influx of externally-generated documents such as email and fax continues. Not to mention the mountains of archived paper records filed away in cabinets, boxes and remote storage facilities.

According to a 2007 study by the Medical Group Management Association, over 76% of physician practice respondents are ‘Satisfied or Extremely Satisfied’ with their transition to an EMR/EHR system once it is completely implemented. One of the biggest hurdles cited to successful implementation was not having an effective plan for migrating the existing paper records into the new EMR/EHR system.

Please join Unity Business Systems and Eva Marie McEwen (Adjunct Professor at Thomas Nelson Community College and Practice Manager herself), Tuesday, May 12th at the Town Point Club in Downtown Norfolk, for a timely discussion of simple, proven strategies to avoid this major pitfall and make a seamless transition to the digital workplace – increasing office profitability and improving your staff’s quality of life.
