March to Protect Our Water, Stop DumpSite 41 in Elmvale Ontario May 4
Led by Maude Barlow, Chair of the Council of Canadians and Senior Advisor on Water Issues to the United Nations
Elmvale Ontario /Monday, May 4, 2009/ Stop Dump Site 41- NO WATER TO WASTE- On May 4, Ontarians will march to Dump Site 41 to Protect Our Water. This is a planned 6 km trip from the Elmvale Springs to the proposed location of Dump Site 41, led by Maude Barlow,Chair of the Council of Canadians and Senior Advisor on Water Issues to the United Nations.
Please join us, fill your bottles at the Springs and show your support for this Ontario-wide citizen protest against Dump Site 41, based on the well documented environmental risks of locating a dump overtop of a major, pristine aquifer and its unnecessary cost to Simcoe taxpayers as some 20 years’ capacity still remains in existing landfills.
Time: 3.30 p.m.
Place: Start at "The Flow", a pure spring near the church, marchers can fill their re-usable water bottles.
Parking Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Elmvale,106 Yonge St (parking) Highway 27 north of main corners
Shuttles will return walkers to their cars following presentations
Non-walkers can drive to the site to arrive at 4.45 p.m. and park on road allowance
Press interviews at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, rally at Site 41 will start at 5:00 p.m.
