According to the CDC, about 20,000 children younger than 5 end up in the hospital each year because of flu. Unfortunately, about 100 children die each year because of complications. Doctors are now recommending that people cough and sneeze into their arm, instead of their hand to help prevent the spread of viruses. Stay at home mom Sarah Less of Cootie Cuff developed a fun and simple way to teach and remind children to do just that. Her online store opened to the public on April 28th, 2009. The site address is:

A soft band adorned with a cartoon cootie is pulled onto the child's forearm or over the elbow, providing a constant reminder to cough into the cootie, and not into the air or hands. The cuff can be thrown into the wash and used over and over again.
Less designed the cuff after repeated reminders to her sick seven year old daughter not to cough into her sisters face.
Cootie Cuff was founded in April of 2009 to provide parents and caregivers a way to help teach children proper hygiene in regards to coughing and sneezing, and to help prevent the spread of colds and flu.
