Online football shirt retailer UKSoccershop have announced that they are now taking pre-orders for the new 2009-10 Newcastle United home kit. The announcement was made via the company's new online blog, letting Toon Army fans know that they can now purchase their clubs new replica kit for the forthcoming season.
The Newcastle shirt will be released on 15th May 2009 with deliveries available from that date. The Toon will wear their new kit for their final Premiership home games of the season and will be hoping it brings them a change of fortune after a miserable season which could see them relegated to the English Championship.
Despite the arrival of club legend Alan Shearer as manager, Newcastle are strong favourites to be relegated from the Premiership unless they can spark a major revival in the final four matches of the 2008-09 Premier League season.
The Toon Army are one of the most loyal sets of supporters in world football, however, and sales of their new home shirt are expected to be strong.
The kit, made by Adidas, is the traditional black and white stripes of Newcastle and was modelled for the launch by striker Michael Owen, who ironically may not appear in the new kit next season as he is out of contract in the summer.
The shirt retails at £39.99 and UKSoccershop have the full product range including short sleeve and long sleeve jerseys, shorts and socks in both adult and junior sizes.
