Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the SAS70 Type II auditing process requires a multi-step review of all critical operational activities, including controls over information technology and related processes. It is the highest level of security and internal control certification, verified and validated by external auditors and accomplished only after an organization has demonstrated adequate internal controls over a period of several months through in-depth audits.
