(Haverhill, MA ) Black Diamonds have debut performances planned for May 2009 just 12 weeks after beginning their Rock School classes. Come and watch them perform at this year’s “Laurie Chase Kid’s Fest” presented by the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce on Sunday, May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. and on Sunday, May 31st, 12 noon watch them perform at “JP Mcbrides”.
This is an exciting moment for these kids, who range in age from 7 to 11 years old. According to Owner, Mike DeAngelis, musicians in his Rock School program tend to excel and progress their skills more quickly in a band setting – it becomes a “group effort”.
Black Diamonds Rock School Band members from youngest to oldest are as follows:
Wolfgang Burger, Bass Guitar – 7 years old.
Wolfgang began learning Guitar at age 5 and when asked to switch to the Bass Guitar to complete this project, he excelled. Greatly influenced by Guitar Hero, he loves Rock from the 80’s especially Black Sabbath, The Clash, Bon Jovi and Joan Jett.
Henry McIntyre, Lead Guitar – 9 years old
Henry started taking lessons and playing at age 7 and he already enjoys writing his own music. He was influenced by Guitar Hero, loves Led Zeppelin and Pearl Jam and is guitar idol is Pete Townsend. Henry performed at Kids as Peacemakers rally this past fall.
AJ Marks, Lead Vocals – 11 years old
AJ has taken 2yrs of vocal lessons and regularly takes part in at least two recitals per year. AJ loves all styles of music but this project is his first in the “Rock” genre. AJ recently performed “Aladin” from Moonlight Productions at the North Shore Theater.
Nick Calnan, Drums – 11 years old
Nick decided to become a Drummer once he learned his grandfather played Drums and has been taking formal Drum lessons for just 6 months. He has excelled greatly in the Rock School setting. Nick loves all Rock n’ Roll, especially Ozzy Osbourne.
