SurveySolar has solved the challenge of using aerial images to automatically detect commercial and residential buildings, calculate roof areas, pitch, solar orientation, insolation and surface composition. Unlike other methods which require human processing, the system can scan images and isolate buildings along with full pro forma analysis for solar potential.
Survey Solar can process 1500 buildings an hour on a standard server creating a inventory of potential buildings for solar panel installation. Data is used to drive government funded initiatives to launch solar adoption on a massive scale at the lowest cost. Unlike other services which use low resolution images, SurveySolar is accurate to 6cm pixel resolution.
Municipalities can initiate bond financed solar energy programs with no investment or use of resources. Building owners are able for the first time to get an accurate assessment as to the cost of going solar. Installers can use the service to reduce their onsite physical inspection time by 90 percent and improve their conversion rate from leads from current industry rate of 2 percent up to 20 percent.
SurveySolar has been tested in several counties in California for commercial and residential analysis. It is being used to determine solar pv potential in several school districts throughout the state under a DOE grant.
