The critically acclaimed stage and screenwriter Sarah-Jayne Gratton, whose work includes, Different Corners, The Pick Up Truck and Roundhouse, has just returned to London after a trip to Sabah, Borneo, where she visited the world acclaimed orangutan rehabilitation center in Sepilok having made a huge personal contribution to the appeal. The celebrity is now attempting to raise media awareness of the orangutans plight to survive amidst ever dwindling rainforests and the vast sale of habitation to palm oil companies.
During her trip, Sarah-Jayne spent time talking with the Indonesian government but feels that much more needs to be done to secure a future for orangutans. In an interview with Scoop Entertainment she remarked “If we don’t act now then there simply won’t be orangutans left. We must help to raise public awareness of what is happening to the world’s natural heritage and I that begins with you and I making a firm stand against the importing of palm oil”
Sarah-Jayne has returned to London where she is attending the BAFTA awards for 2009.
