The organization e-ISOTIS member of the EMERGE consortium cooperates with Psychogeriatric Association ‘O Nestor ‘for the pilot trial of the system .The pilot trial has started on April 2009 in Athens and will last until the end of May 2009 the earliest .The aim is to explore how elderly people behave and use the developments in real life. e-ISOTIS and EMERGE consortium have taken all the necessary protections concerning the data transferring, anonymisation and safety of the participants.
The main innovation of EMERGE project is to provide a model for recurring behaviors and experiences of elderly people following a holistic approach in order to detect deviations from their typical behavior and to reason on acute disorders in their health condition. Outlines the functionality of the EMERGE application. By means of unobtrusive sensing, the behavior and vital signs of the assisted person are analyzed for deviations from the typical daily routine. EMERGE will detect such suspicious situations, tries to prevent upcoming emergencies with stepwise assistance. First, it provides early proactive assistance, e.g., by providing helpful instructions. Next, it integrates friends, family, or caregivers. In case of an emergency that cannot be prevented with the first two steps, it supports the assisted person to contact an integrated emergency medical service (EMS) and reports the case by providing information about the current state and personal background of the affected person.
