Mountain Valley Center’s Otto Labyrinth Park has New Welcome Center

The Labyrinth is a symbol of the spiritual journey to the center. It is the outward sign of the inner pilgrimage.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Apr 24, 2009 -
Otto Labyrinth Park opens a new Welcome Center that provides facilities and parking for Park visitors.

The Otto Labyrinth Park was established in 1998 as a non-profit, public park in Otto, NC. Since then, thousands of local, regional, national, and international visitors have enjoyed walking the Labyrinth, exploring the Old Growth Laurel Forest, and relaxing by the creek and ponds. We have opened a Welcome Center at the Park. The Welcome Center provides facilities and parking for Park visitors, information guides to walking Labyrinths, and is the new home to MountainValleyCenter.com’s unique gifts for Well Being. The Park and Welcome Center are located at 43 Shambala Way, Otto, NC. (Take US 441 to Calvary Church Rd. West on Calvary Church, and left on Shambala Way). Call 888-773-2491 for further information & hours of operation.

Additional Information on Labyrinths

The Labyrinth is a symbol of the spiritual journey to the center. It is the outward sign of the inner pilgrimage. Originally found in ancient Crete, the Labyrinth symbol has appeared in many cultures. From Cornwall England, where the design was etched on a 3500 year old rock carving (the estimated time of Camelot!), to the Hopi Indians. From Cathedrals in Europe to modern day uses by Churches, Hospitals, and Spiritual Centers.

Walking a labyrinth, or tracing the pattern with your fingers, brings a deep sense of peace and harmony. Perhaps it is because you must focus on one step at a time trusting that the journey will always lead to your Center, even when it appears you are traveling in the opposite direction.

Walking the Otto Labyrinth

The Labyrinth is located just beyond the ponds from the Welcome Center. As you walk the labyrinth just follow the path, you cannot get lost - for just as in life, you WILL reach the center, even when it appears you are moving away from it! Ring the bell to begin, later accept a welcoming hug from the Cedar tree on the outer path! The Cedar tree represents the way we deal with obstacles in our lives. You may move to another path to get around it, or bend your back to the tree and gently move through your obstacles. Once in the center, spend some time reflecting on life, hopes, & dreams, then simply let go and feel the presence of Healing, Joy & Love fill your heart and soul. After walking the labyrinth, you may wish to explore the path back into the laurel forest. If you go far enough, you will find a healing bench under the laurels. Sit and relax with all the faerie folk who dwell there. The Park is open dawn to dusk.
