PR Log (Press Release)Apr 22, 2009 – BatteriesInAFlash.com, Inc celebrated Earth Day at UNLV for a two day event, educating children and adults of all ages about the importance of proper disposal of Nickel Cadmium(Ni-CD), Nickel Metal Hydride(Ni-MH), and Lithium(Li) batteries. These are the common known chemistries of rechargeable batteries.

The first day consisted of talking with college students, faculty, and staff about what they can do to reduce their consumption. A convenient drop off location was provided to allow the on campus students to recycle there batteries. UNLV students were very interested in what information BatteriesInAFlash was offering and asked a lot of great questions.

The second day was a collective group of local and rural elementary schools from the Clark County District. Over 300 students participated in the Earth Day event which focused on recycling through games, performances and demonstrations. The children were eager to learn that batteries can also be recycled. The event only lasted 3 hours but the impact that was left on the children was tremendous.

A small scale solar panel demonstration was set up to help educate the kids on possibilities of other forms of renewable and reusable energy. The demonstration showed how a small 12 volt AGM battery was being charged when the solar panel was hooked up in comparison to a battery that had no recharging source applied. This demonstrated the suns direct affect on the battery and was a reinforcement to reduce | reuse | recycle. The
