April 22, 2009 - PRLog -- Take a pedal to power this spectacular display of lights and create 300 watts of power.
This interactive artist designed educational display is fun for the whole family.

The sculpture is the work of artist Rebecca Schwarz,  the project grew out of Rebecca’s love of Bike Recycle, and her interest in making art about energy and our ecologies. Working in collaboration with Bike Recycle Vermont the project is designed with FUN in mind.  Kids of all ages become engaged as they physically get involved by riding bikes to generate power.  Heavy scary issues of climate change and non-renewable energy consumption are transformed into a tactical experience with surprising visual results.

Bike Recycle Vermont is a nonprofit organization, offering new life to old bikes! Rebuilding bikes and passing them on we reduce the waste stream, offer youth training, provide transportation and expand opportunities for low-income Vermonters.

Ron Manganiello, Bike Recycle Vermont Founder says about the project, “The Tower of Power uses 100's of multicolored LEDs, 3 bicycles and an attractive metal sculpture to convert passerbys into active participants.  While having fun and pedaling hard, the participants and onlookers get a visceral education about the energy consumption of common household appliances.”

The display will is indoors and will happen rain or shine.
