Travelingreen Announces New CO2 Calculation Tools for Travel

April 22, 2009 - PRLog -- Edgewater, Maryland - Travelingreen, LLC today introduced multifunction CO2 calculation tools for individual and enterprise use which provide comprehensive, accurate CO2 emission comparisons between alternative modes of transportation (rail, auto and commercial air).  Travelingreen uses comprehensive and regularly updated data sources -- including aircraft type, flight profile and distance, air traffic delays, cabin configuration, cargo on passenger flights, load factor, as well as US EPA based vehicle data -- to provide methodology transparency. The technology, reviewed and rated #1 by the Stockholm Environmental Institute, produces tangible, quantifiable evidence illustrating thoughtful and deliberate decision making, strong corporate leadership and responsible corporate stewardship.  

Travelingreen’s web based Travel Carbon Comparison Calculator is based on a design solution responding to consumer demand for user-friendly access to detailed, comparative information associated with travel related carbon footprints.   This gives an individual traveler the power to make informed decisions based on methodologically-sound and data-rich calculations.  Currently focused on US and Canadian markets, this web based tool allows the traveler to make smart, responsible and accountable choices in travel planning.

Travelingreen services the enterprise as well with three new products used to determine baseline carbon emissions from travel.  These tools will enhance corporate travel policy and propel businesses forward in their quests to achieve government regulations for reduced carbon output.

The newly released commercial products available from the company are:

•   Travelingreen Enterprise Reports - detailed CO2 analytic reports and policy recommendations on a city-by-city basis based on historic air, train and car travel data;
•   Travelingreen CO2 Lite - a stand-alone software tool for use by internal teams or consultants to provide on demand raw CO2 data on a flight segment by flight segment basis;
•   Travelingreen Travel Exceed - a software tool that can be used in conjunction with existing corporate travel tools to strengthen policies involving CO2 emissions at the time of purchase.
