Mexican restaurant Cantina Tequilla, which was put into administration back in February, is to be transformed into The Orchard, which will serve locally sourced ingredients, play host to its very own Tavern and showcase musicians and theatre productions from around the city within its gardens.
Work has already begun on the site and the restaurant’s owners, who have invested a substantial six-figure sum investment, plan to open the venture through an exclusive launch on May 8.
Managing Director Chris Welford said: “We knew there was great potential with this site, especially as the Baltic Triangle is such an up and coming area of Liverpool. What we are now doing is transforming what used to be here and creating a destination venue, which we hope people from around the city will visit on a regular basis.”
The Orchard Company estimates that the site will boast a 500-person capacity, with 120 covers in the restaurant.
Chris added: “There are four different experiences you can have when you come to The Orchard.
“You can eat at the restaurant, where all of the ingredients will be sourced from within 55 miles of our location, have a pint of cider at the Tavern, where we will offer 30 different varieties of cider and real ales and hold regular tastings, have breakfast or lunch here with work colleagues, or enjoy our bimonthly barbeque and entertainment days that will be held outside.”
