There is a new website that allows people to publicly keep track of their volunteering and philanthropic activities called Sola Caritas (www.solacaritas.com)
This website comes at an important time; it is now common practice for prospective employers or schools to Google applicants’ names before extending an offer. Research has shown that up to 38% of those individuals find Internet results that impact the applicant negatively, usually through inappropriate photos, comments, or behaviours. Sola Caritas helps individuals manage that online image by allowing users to control their identity and to show employers and schools their philanthropic side. Also, it utilizes web 2.0 to help students who need to complete their volunteer hours to easily do so.
Sola Caritas will soon offer users the ability to generate donations to their favourite charities by simply watching a video ad. Each time they watch it, the advertising company will donate money to that charity on behalf of the user.
